  9.                 munications equipment.  Damage caused by im-
  10.                 properly installing this modification may cause
  11.                 ICOM to charge for subsequent repairs to the

  18.  Subject:       Elimination of possible faint pulse noise from
  19.                 speaker when radio is in power save mode
  20.  
  21.  Information:   The power save mode employs a circuit which
  22.                 creates a high level square wave signal used in
  23.                 the power save function.  This modification alters
  24.                 the square wave characteristic to eliminate the
  25.                 noise.

  29.   1.  Remove the covers from the radio and locate the main board.
  30.  
  31.   2.  Locate C-749 and replace it with a 2.2 uf 16 V tantalum chip
  32.       capacitor.
  33.  
  34.   3.  Reassemble the radio, power up and allow the unit to enter
  35.       the power save mode.
  36.  
  37.   4.  Check to see that the pulse type noise has been eliminated.

  39.   5.  Replace the covers and return the radio to service.
